Russel Wright for Bauer

I saw this on the bottom shelf at Goodwill. I thought ...huh, that glaze looks like RW.  Turned it over and sure enough, its a piece of Bauer art pottery designed by Russel Right. I think it was $2.99.

I saw this chair in Goodwill about 1 month ago. It was painted and horribly reupholstered. I told myself I would only buy it as a project chair if it was still there when it went half off. Well it went half off yesterday. It has been stripped to the original upholstery and sanded back to bare wood. Still a long way to go. The price was right at $5.50.

Roche Pottery Vase

I was happy to find this case. The price was a little high for me at 20, but I was always looking to add some Roche to my collection.  Mold number 31.

Art Deco Silver Plate

I found these three items at goodwill today. They are silver plated brass. The tea/coffee pot and sugar bowl are not marked. The canister and stand are marked Laris, although I cannot find any information on this manufacture. They have a lot of wear, I believe all items are authentic art deco. I am fairly close to the Brass City (Waterbury CT). These may have come from there?

Art Deco Antelope Mirror Syle of Edgar Brandt

I have not been able to find any information on the manufacture of this mirror. It is definately very high quality and heavy. I went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore looking for appliances and light fixtures and came back with this. It was worth the trip. :)

Print: Beckett Still Life II 24/30

I found this print in goodwill about 2 months ago. It is very cool and in a very nice (and expensive) custom walnut with chrome inlay frame. Purchased for $14.99 (I gasped too, when I saw the price. Talk about under appreciated.) Size ~17x21

Glidden Planter

I found the large Glidden planter in a goodwill. It matches one I found 2 years ago. It is aways great to find matches. Glidden was a mid-century modern ceramic manufacturer. $3 

lynn itzkowitz print

I stopped by goodwill on the way home from my parents house today and found this large modern art print. It is very striking. Marked for Manzha 4/5 lynn itzkowitz. Purchased for $9.99 (pictured out of the frame)

Richard Claude Ziemann Etching "Leaving the Grove" 10/50 1966

I reciently became interested in etchings, after seeing an artists work during a local open studio tour. I couldn't afford one from the artist, but I have been looking in goodwill. This large etching was sitting in the window of one on the shops I frequent. I picked it up and I could tell it was a quality frame. It was titled, dated, signed, and was 16/50. I learned that the most desired prints are the fearlier ones, so that was a good sign. The frame had a sticker indicating it was framed in Lower Manhattan (another good sign).  I decided to purchase it for $9.99.

When I got home I did some research

Gen-U-Wine Knoll Chair

I found this authentic Knoll chair at one of the local thift shops today. It is has the original paper label from the Knoll Corporation and a sticker from Art Metal Inc.  It is extremely heavy. I purchased it for a bargin at $7. I haven't been able to find this model anywhere online. It's either rare, crap, or custom :)

Idiots

So I found this bronze statue in goodwill by accident. I saw a carved ebony bird which was intersting(?), when I notices a silver statue sitting next to it. It has too much detail and character to be some super mass produced garbage like you would find at Homegoods. I picked it up, and it was heavy. I though, this has to be a 'bronze'. Sure enough, I scratched the uneven silver paint off with my thumb nail. My next though was "what idiot would spray paint a bronze statue". The character and patina of a bronze statue is awe inspiring, yet someone out there thought "Hey you know what would make this better? A top coat coat of silver flake." I managed to get most of the paint off without damaging the underlining patina. It feels good to know that I saved this piece of art, and will cherish it.

This very minimal seventy painting was awaiting purchase. At $15 it's less than some posters so I could not pass it up. Canvas size is 30x40"
